Grip on all types of asphalt.

An improved compound solution enhances chemical grip and adhesive properties in different situations.
Our patented mixing process delivers a more uniform compound that emphasizes chemical properties and leads to better wear resistance.
The radial front tires feature a 100% silica compound, providing excellent chemical grip as well as mechanical grip created by the tread pattern.
The radial rear tires have a two-compound layout where the central band covers approximately 20% of the tire's width, and the remaining 80% is evenly distributed between the two shoulders.
The central band has a balanced mix of silica and carbon black to enhance high-speed stability, heat dispersion, and to provide a balance between abrasion resistance and grip.
The 100% silica compound on the shoulders is similar to that of the front tire. Combined with the tread groove design, it delivers excellent grip even on surfaces with a low friction coefficient.
Using a similar compound on the shoulders front and rear provides a consistent contact feel in corners.
The Cap&Base pattern - characterized by a thin layer of central compound extended under the shoulder compound - offers good heat distribution.
All ROADTEC™ 01 radials are paired with INTERACT™ technology (zero-degree steel belt) Metzeler, contributing to precise handling and high longevity.
All ROADTEC™ 01 with a conventional structure feature a unique compound based on carbon black with a silica percentage close to 30%, which utilizes the heat generated by the structure to reach optimal operating temperature and deliver ideal dry grip. Special resins enhance the mobility of the compound and its adhesive properties for incomparable wet grip.

Safety on wet surfaces and those with a low friction coefficient.

On the ROADTEC™ 01, Metzeler has developed a new tread concept capable of enhancing mechanical traction, with a clearly noticeable benefit during accelerations and braking.
The front tire features a large number of transverse grooves that grab the asphalt and improve water evacuation.
The rear tire has long grooves and short grooves with opposing orientations and different functions.
During braking, the short grooves prevent lateral movement and increase the stability of the motorcycle.
During acceleration, the long grooves enhance the traction of the compound, particularly on surfaces with a low friction coefficient.
The orientation of the grooves also contributes to extending longevity: the groove design and depth are intended to influence a high full/empty ratio and a large amount of rubber in contact with the ground.
At the same time, the groove orientation follows the direction of wear lines, ensuring a regular consumption of the tread and allowing it to last until the very end of the tire's life.
The shape and arrangement, apart from being a distinctive feature of the ROADTEC™ 01 tread, greatly contribute to maximizing the water evacuation capability and mechanical friction.

Longevity and consistency of performance.

The ROADTEC™ 01 offers a 10% greater longevity compared to the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™. The innovative profiles create a short and wide contact area that reduces compound consumption and increases wear consistency.
The contact area of the ROADTEC™ 01 is shorter but wider, resulting in a larger surface area than that of the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™. This brings two main effects:

A reduced compound slip, significantly delaying the wear process of the rubber.
The weight of the motorcycle and acceleration forces are distributed over a wider surface, thereby reducing the strains on the compound and overheating.

The contact surface of the ROADTEC™ 01 includes a greater number of grooves and edges in contact with the road, thus improving mechanical grip, water evacuation, and the feeling of safety. It also allows more rubber to be in contact with the ground, especially during moderate lean angles, thus benefiting from chemical grip from the very beginning of the lean.

Stability and trajectory precision.

The structures of the ROADTEC™ 01 are characterized by more flexible carcasses (compared to the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™), allowing the compound to deform to enhance mechanical grip, improve adherence to the roughness of the asphalt, and facilitate the absorption of road irregularities.
Metzeler takes advantage of its entire technological portfolio in different applications to offer the best solution to meet the product performance objectives and ensure that radial and X-ply structures are utilized, coupled either with a diagonal belt or a zero-degree steel belt using INTERACT™ technology.
